Dear Parent(s): My name is Sarika Malani and I am the current National President for Delta Kappa Delta Sorority, Inc. I am writing to you today in an effort to explain the purpose of our organization, the relevance of our National Convention, and to provide you with a point of contact who will be available to answer all questions/concern as your daughter goes through her journey as a Sister of Delta Kappa Delta. Delta Kappa Delta is a sorority unlike any other – we are a culturally based, service focused organization that falls under the realm of a Greek organization. As a Greek organization, we seek to equip our members with the resources and knowledge to be able to advocate for themselves and have a voice on their campus. Also, given our aim is to create female leaders who seek to serve their communities, we do not associate our organization with alcohol or other harmful substances that will diminish our mission, and hold our Sisters to the highest standards. Ultimately, we aim to fulfill the following objectives:
Ensure our members are meeting the highest academic standards
Educate the community about our rich and varied cultures through events and service
Create opportunities to serve the campus, local, and international communities through humanitarian services
Work to support our philanthropy - child abuse prevention and awareness - through our endeavors locally and nationally
Provide a network of highly successful alumni across the nation who seek to encourage and mentor younger members and provide them with professional opportunities
Provide a sisterhood to all of our members so that they may always have a “home away from home” while in any part of the country
Develop our members personally and professionally through workshops, Greek conferences, and National Convention
Every member of Delta Kappa Delta will have an enriching experience while involved on their respective campuses. However, it is only at National Convention that our Sisters, who have been speaking virtually for months, will finally be able to meet and interact with sisters from different universities, as well as alumni who are there to network and forge bonds. To summarize, these are the benefits we offer our members during National Convention:
Leadership development workshops, programming pertaining to the Sorority, and opportunities to lead discussions on key issues affecting young, minority women today
Networking with alumni and the opportunity to find mentors who will guide them personally and professionally, as well as the chance to interact with keynote speakers who have stood out in their fields
Opportunities to make connections with Greek members all over the country in a safe and structured environment
Personally, I believe National Convention is an extremely enriching experience, and will provide your daughter with valuable tools and memories to last a lifetime. Membership within Delta Kappa Delta has helped shape many impressive female leaders and I truly believe I have grown personally and professionally through my involvement in this organization. If I can provide clarifications or answer any further questions/concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to me at President@DeltaKappaDelta.com or (847) 373-2340.
National President 2017-2018
