Baylor Colony Spreads the Warmth! Spread the Warmth is an annual holiday event in which Baylor Colony donates and personally delivers handmade blankets to children at the Family Abuse Center in Waco, TX. To do so, the sisters asked for various donations such as fabric, scissors, and monetary donations. Various times at areas around campus were given to volunteers extending from 1.5 hours to 3 hours where everyone could participate in the holiday cheer and help make these blankets. The event was extremely successful and Baylor Colony had more material than they had hoped for! After all the blankets were made, holiday colored ribbon was tied around them with a tag which read:
"Christmas - that magic blanket that wraps itself about us, that something so intangible that it is like a fragrance"
At the abuse center, children are given a special blanket to keep for their own when they arrive.Though the shelter is a kind and loving place, children undergoing abuse often don't feel comfortable adjusting to a place that they are not familiar with. The blankets provide a sense of stability, comfort, and home for each child. |
